MAJOR CHANGES COMING TO HI-DESERT MEDICAL CENTER

Changes are coming to the Hi-Desert Medical Center, thanks to the take-over of the hospital by Tenet Healthcare last July. The hospital’s chief executive officer Karen Faulis told the Morongo Basin Healthcare District board of directors at their June 9 meeting that Tenet is recruiting several physicians, including general surgeons, a gastroenterologist, urologist, and cardiologist. In addition, the hospital is expanding its total joint replacement program, medical cardiology program, and women’s health program, including upgrading the MRI and CT equipment. Faulis told the board that the hospital’s staff has identified a substantial list of capital improvement projects and equipment valued at about $17 million. The hospital has already installed an infant security system, new ventilators for the hospital and Continuing Care Center, and new mattresses for the hospital.
