There is help available if you can’t afford your property taxes. If you are at least 62 years old or are blind or disabled; own and occupy your own home; have a total household income of $35,500 or less; have at least 40 percent equity in your property; and do not have a reverse mortgage on your property, you may apply to postpone your property tax payment. Applications are accepted through February 10, and will be processed in the order they are received. Applications are available by calling 800-952-5661, or online at sco.ca.gov.
