The crew from a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s helicopter helped find a missing hiker near Desert Hot Springs Thursday. According to a Sheriff’s report, the 62-year-old woman had started hiking near the Mission Creek Preserve about 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning. When the woman realized she was lost, she called for help. She still had a bottle of water but very low battery power on her cell phone. Riverside County deputies and rangers from the Bureau of Land Management started the search for her. When the Riverside County helicopter had to call off its search due to flight restrictions, San Bernardino County’s 40 King helicopter was called in about 4 p.m. to help. The crew on 40 King located the woman about 7 p.m. She was found in good shape with no medical aid needed and was safely returned to Riverside deputies.
