A well-known Los Angeles-area photographer is bringing his pandemic portrait project to Joshua Tree. Rebecca Havely has more information…
Since lockdown, Alon Goldsmith has used his i-Phone to photograph Los Angelenos sheltering in place and writing stories to accompany the photographs. He has completed more than 70 portrait profiles. The subjects are a random sampling of people Goldsmith has encountered in his 35 years of living in Los Angeles, as well as people he’s met through encounters as a result of the project itself. He’s photographed rabbis, rock stars, a deaf activist, a best-selling author, a Top Chef, a homeless woman, and dozens of other wonderfully interesting and diverse Angelenos. Now, Goldsmith is bringing his project to the Hi-Desert and will be photographing people he comes across.
“Joshua Tree and the surrounding area has always been a bit of a magical place for me,” he said. “I have been to the Joshua Tree Music Festival many times; as an attendee and official photographer. I even played there once with local band. With all the fabulous artists, musicians and free spirits who make it home, I’m excited to document what it’s been like sheltering in place in the High Desert.”
Goldsmith has a few open spaces. He will be in Joshua Tree Tuesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.
