A Los Angeles man was arrested in Yucca Valley Tuesday morning, after a Sheriff’s deputy determined he was in a car that had been reported stolen in Los Angeles earlier that day.
About 10:40 a.m., a deputy was notified by LoJack that a stolen car was in the parking lot of the 99-cent store in the 57900 block of 29 Palms Highway in Yucca Valley. Sitting inside the 2003 Chevy Tahoe were Enrique Pitones, 29, and a woman. The deputy saw that the Tahoe’s ignition had been tampered with. Pitones claimed that he had purchased it for $500 but did not have any supporting paperwork or the keys to the vehicle. Enrique Pitones was arrested for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
