In yesterday’s election, Gavin Newsom easily won the governorship (59.4 percent of the vote), and Senator Dianne Feinstein cruised to victory in her re-election bid to the U.S. Senate (54.4 percent).

Congressman Paul Cook and Assemblyman Chad Mayes retained their seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and California Assembly, with 60.3 percent and 57.4 percent of the votes, respectively.

Winning the state Senate seat for District 16 is Shannon Grove (66.9 percent).

In local contests, Jim Schooler (63.14 percent) and Merl Abel (63.69 percent) are the winners for the Yucca Valley Town Council.

In Twentynine Palms, Dan Mintz has a clear majority against a write-in. John Cole (51.32) and Macarthur Wright (54.07) are the winners in their Districts.

For the Morongo Unified School District, Hilary Slotta, (62.08 percent), Chris Proudfoot (52.8 percent), and Keri Condley (51.22 percent) are the winners.

For Copper Mountain College, Eva Kinsman and Liz Meyer won, with 37.84 and 42.95 percent of the vote, respectively.

For the Hi-Desert Medical Center Healthcare District, Marge Doyle (37.08 percent), and Misty Evans (43.02 percent) are the winners.

The winners of the Joshua Basin Water District board of directors are Rebecca Unger (27.59 percent) and Mike Reynolds (26.78 percent).

Winners in the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency are John Burkhart (27.08 percent), Judy Corl-Lorono (24.89 percent).

For the third seat, the Registrar of Voters shows that David Chapman and JoMarie McKenzie are tied, with 257 votes each (18.12 percent).

The school bond, Measure O, was defeated, while it received 52.07 percent of the vote, 55 percent is required to pass a General Obligation Bond under California Law.Proposition results:
