One Run for Boston is a non-stop running relay across America in aid of the One Fund Boston. The One Fund Boston raises money to help those families most affected by the bombing during the Boston Marathon last year. The One Run for Boston comes through the Morongo Basin on its way to Boston. Managing editor Tami Roleff has the details on the run, and how you can be a part of it…
The One Run for Boston starts in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 16, and finishes in Boston April 13, a week before the Boston Marathon. Runners will be passing through the Morongo Basin starting Monday, March 17. According to the website, OneRunForBoston.org, runners are expected to arrive at Willie Boy’s Saloon in Morongo Valley about 5 p.m. Monday, and participants will run east in relay teams on Highway 62 through Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, Twentynine Palms, and beyond, through the night and early morning of March 18. Some stages of the run through the area still need runners; even if a stage has a runner, others can still participate by running along. Runners collect pledges which are turned over to the One Fund Boston. For more information about who’s running, or to make a pledge, go to OneRunForBoston.org.
