A lifeguard who had been on the job for just four days is credited with saving the life of a woman who had a seizure while in a swimming pool in Twentynine Palms Wednesday. Just before 3:30 p.m., Daviahn Thrasher, a lifeguard at the Combat Center’s community center pool in the 5900 block of Desert Knoll, noticed the woman slip under water during the seizure. Thrasher immediately went to the woman’s rescue and brought her to the edge of the pool with a backboard and then moved her to the pool deck while waiting for paramedics. Morongo Basin Ambulance transported the woman to the hospital in stable condition and she is expected to make a full recovery. Twentynine Palms firefighters credit Thrasher’s quick and professional actions in saving this woman’s life and say without his training and skills the outcome would have been very different.
