Our local high schools fielded champions in the Desert Valley individual tennis tournament at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

Congratulations to Yucca Valley High School tennis player Katie Brattain for a perfect season and ending with the championship in singles. In doubles, congratulations to Mckenzi Monical and Rylie Rohr for placing second and Jade Arnhold and Orion Ricketts for taking fourth.

The standout for the Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats was Alexis Soster who ended up placing second in singles in a super tie-breaker. The match took almost four hours in 101-degree temperatures. Soster is the first person to make it to CIF in the past three years under Coach Bill Shay.

The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycat Varsity Tennis team finished their season in fourth place in the Desert Valley league (DVL). The final overall record was 11-and-7, and their league record was 8-and-6, giving them a fourth-place finish.
