LOCAL DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS MEETING

When the Morongo Basin Democratic Club meets this Saturday (June 13), members will consider a resolution in support of measure Y, the hospital’s ballot initiative on affiliation with Tenet Healthcare. A guest speaker will present the case for California Senate Bill 128, which would give terminally ill people the right to end their lives. Saturday’s meeting is open to all registered Democrats and invited guests. Attendees will gather at 9 a.m. for fellowship and a $10 power breakfast at Bruce’s Coyote Kitchen on the Copper Mountain College campus. Join the Morongo Basin Republicans on Monday, June 15, 5:30 p.m. for their monthly dinner meeting at Evangelical Free Church in Yucca Valley. Jim Schooler, new field representative for California State Senator Jean Fuller, will talk about what’s happening at the State level that affects us all here in the Morongo Basin. They will also have updates from Judy Corl-Lorono, president of the Bighorn Desert View Water Agency; Jeff Cummings, superintendent/president of Copper Mountain College; and Beth Bogue, new field representative for Assemblyman Chad Mayes.
