The San Bernardino County Arts Connection awarded 24 grants to local artists through the Arts Innovator Micro Grant program. The program started in 2019 with only five $500 in it’s first year. This year eight $1000 grants and sixteen $500 grants were awarded.
Many artists saw their income decline from the impact of COVID-19 and the grants were increased to help them financially recover as galleries open up and there’s a return to in person events.
Among the $1000 awardees were local artists Ana Stump and Linda Sibio. Claudia Bucher and Elena Yu are among those receiving $500 grants.
Other local winners include: Nicole DeWitt, Jean-Paul L. Garnier, and Selina Phanara
Arts Connection’s Executive Director Jenny Kane said winning these awards often leads to more support and opportunities for these artists.
