LOCAL ARTISTS A BIG PART OF JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK ART EXPOSITION

Nearly half of the 49 artists whose art will appear in the fourth annual Joshua Tree National Park Art Exposition are residents of the Morongo Basin. A selection committee viewed 236 artwork images submitted by 92 artists from California, the United States, and British Columbia. Artwork ranged from paintings, mixed media, photography, ceramics, glass, and metal sculpture. Local artists include Bob Arnett, Doug Dolde, Frederick Fulmer, James Hammons, Jessie Keylon, Noreen Lawlor, Lenne Rosen-Kabe, Karine Swenson, and John Van Vliet from Joshua Tree; Penelope Benson-Wright and Chuck Caplinger from Twentynine Palms; and Christina Cody, Janis Commentz, Bill Dahl, Tami Roleff, Laurie Schafer, Esther Shaw, Heather Sprague, Krista Wargo, Echo Westover, and Andy Willinger from Yucca Valley. The judged art exposition will be held at the Twentynine Palms Art Gallery from September 2 through October 2. An awards reception will be held September 17 from 5 to 8 p.m.
