LOCAL AMONG THREE CANDIDIATES FOR COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

Three career educators, one from the Morongo basin, are vying to be the top educational official in San Bernardino County in the June 3 election. The current County Superintendent of Schools, Gary Thomas, is retiring. His replacement will be elected to a four-year term. Rita Ramirez, 71, of Twentynine Palms, a retired community college professor and former Copper Mountain College Board member who failed in her re-election bid, Rialto high counselor Frank Garza, 56, of San Bernardino, and Ted Alejandre, 49, of Yucaipa, have filed for the office.
