Can you distinguish a harmless gopher snake from a rattler? How about a California king snake from a long-nosed snake? These snakes are easily confused especially in a panic. Mike Lipsitz brings us details on a presentation designed to reduce the hysteria for communities “Living with Snakes”…
“Living with Snakes” is the name of Jane Fawke’s presentation at the Wonder Valley Community Center Saturday, September 22, from 11 to 1 p.m. Fawke, a retired park ranger, will discuss local venomous and non-venomous snakes, their habitat, and how to identify and safely co-exist with them. Fawke uses live, non-venomous snakes in her presentation. They will be secured in heavy-duty, plastic containers. No one will handle the snakes which include two types of California king snake, a rosy boa, gopher snake, long-nosed snake, and a glossy snake. More information on this other events can be found at WonderValley.org.
