Line Fire growth stalls at just under 40,000 acres, currently 52% contained

The Line Fire continues to burn throughout San Bernardino County’s mountain communities, but growth has stalled and efforts to extinguish the fire continue. It was last week when smoke from the fire poured down into the Morongo Basin, darkening skies and closing down schools on account of unsafe air quality.

According to the latest information from CalFire, the Line Fire is 52% contained and is burning across 39,232 acres. That’s a growth of less than 1,000 acres since Sunday night. The fire is unlikely to spread to Big Bear, and currently poses no threat to our hi-desert communities.

On Tuesday, the man accused of starting the Line Fire, Justin Halstenberg, pled “not guilty” to 11 felony charges related to arson. He is due back in San Bernardino County court for a bail hearing on Monday September 23.
