Line Fire at 21% containment, growth is slowing

Growth is slowing on the Line Fire, and the smoke covering the Morongo Basin is diminishing.

The Line Fire, burning in Highland and nearby mountain communities, grew only about 1,000 acres in the last 24 hours, and is now at 37,743 acres and is 21% containment.

Though the Morongo Basin was never facing the threat of fire, heavy smoke coverage over the last several days has impacted our area.

Morongo Unified School District Schools, which were closed on Wednesday (September 11) and Thursday (September 12) will reopen today, though all athletic events scheduled for the weekend have been cancelled.
