LIGHTNING STRIKE SETS JOSHUA TREE ON FIRE IN YUCCA MESA

A booming thunderstorm swept through the Morongo Basin last night, and lightning caused at least one fire. County Fire Battalion Chief Mike Snow said Yucca Mesa firefighters were called out at 2:40 a.m. for a Joshua tree on fire in a vacant lot in the 2900 block of La Habra. No other structures or vegetation were threatened. Snow said no other calls for service were received for the thunderstorm.
