LIGHT PARADES PLANNED IN BOTH TWENTYNINE PALMS AND YUCCA VALLEY

This year the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce will again combine its annual Winter Light Parade, which will march down Abode Road on Tuesday, Dec. 5, with the lighting of the Twentynine Palms Christmas Tree at Veterans Park, beginning at 6:45 p.m. For those who want to participate, entry fee is $20 or the equivalent value in toys, for Toys for Tots Donation. “Light up the World”: That’s the theme of this year’s Festival of Light
Parade on Saturday, December 9, in Yucca Valley. The annual event and friendly competition will see entries including cars, trucks, floats, animals, kids, walkers and anyone or anything able to, well, light up the world. Entries will be judged in a number of categories including Most Humorous, Best Spirit, Best Use of Light, Best Costumes, Favorite Animal Entry, Rotary Choice Award and Pride of the Parade. Entry forms are available at the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce or at yvrotary.org. Registration is $25. The Festival of Light Parade kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and runs along Santa Fe Trail, from Bannock Trail to Inca Trail where youngsters may visit with Santa. For more information, call 760-365-1988.
