Registration is underway for the Town of Yucca Valley lifeguard certification course. This course provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants must be at least 15 years old and be able to pass prerequisite skills evaluation. The course fee of $220 includes American Red Cross registration fee, lifeguarding manual, adult/child CPR mask, whistle, pack, and instruction. The course will take place on May 2, 3, 9 and 10, at the Yucca Valley High School pool. Upon completion, participants receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for two years. Graduates will have the opportunity to interview for summer positions with the Town of Yucca Valley Aquatics program, may be eligible for a 50 percent fee reimbursement.
