A letter containing narcotics was intercepted at the Morongo Basin Jail on Wednesday (August 2) according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies.
They report says that the narcotics were found during a facility search in the jail area which is used to temporarily house inmates who are scheduled for court appearances.
Numerous Morongo Basin Station deputies and a narcotic-detecting canine participated in the search at the jail, which is located in the Joshua Tree Government Center at 6527 White Feather Road.
During the search of the facility, Deputies report that the detection canine located the mail that contained suspected narcotics inside the inmate housing units.
The investigation is ongoing and is pending further laboratory analysis.
