The Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park, in partnership with the Twentynine Palms Historical Society, is presenting another great lecture in their Old Schoolhouse lecture series. This one focuses on a lost city. Entertainment reporter Rebecca Havely has the details…
Somewhere in the Mojave Desert, an Ophir city once rose and fell. But where? This mystery is the subject of popular speaker Nicholas Clapp’s lecture at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, Friday, January 9, at 7 p.m. Clapp is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and author who has previously discovered a lost city in Arabia. If you wish to have dinner with the speaker prior to the lecture, there’s an optional dinner planned at 5 p.m. at the 29 Palms Inn. Attendees are responsible for their own meal and space is limited. So RSVP for dinner with Marion Garner by calling 760-361-1202 or email at [email protected]. The restaurant is located at 73950 Inn Avenue, and the Old Schoolhouse is at 6760 National Park Drive, both in Twentynine Palms. Lecture admission is $5 at the door.
