Kangaroo rats are one of the most abundant mammals in the desert, but they face a gauntlet of desert predators, including rattlesnakes. Scientists Rulon Clark and Grace Freymiller will present a program 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 7, on how these supposedly defenseless rodents protect themselves from becoming a meal for their predators (hint: think flying Ninja leaps and kicks). Clark and Freymiller will share these gravity-defying moves during a program at the Indian Cove amphitheater in Joshua Tree National Park.
