Transition Joshua Tree will host a workshop Sunday on how to create and use wicking beds for gardening. With his gloves and trowel, here’s reporter Andrew Dieleman…
Wicking beds use much less water than standard watering systems, making them perfect for desert gardening. A water reservoir below the surface of the soil channels water underneath the plants and into the roots. On Sunday, April 8 from 3 to 5 p.m., Transition Joshua Tree will host a wicking bed workshop, building wicking beds for the Joshua Tree local food program’s Demonstration Garden and teaching people how to create their own wicking beds. The event will take place at Joshua Tree Community United Methodist Church, located at 5213 East Parkway in Joshua Tree. For more information, visit the links in this story at z1077fm.com.
