Fans of the upcoming Twentynine Palms Weed Show in early November may consider creating their own entries this year and maybe even snagging a prize. One multi-winner wants to help you get there. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details…
Now in its 78th year, the annual Weed Show in Twentynine Palms attracts visitors far and wide who come to see what creative beauty can be coaxed from mere weeds. Ted Meyers, long-time Wonder Valley resident and a 33-time winner of the Weed Show, wants to help others create their own entries.
On Saturday, September 28, at the Wonder Valley Community Center, Meyers will present an overview of the show’s strict rules, category variants, display base selection and how different weeds can be used for desired effect. Last year, Meyers’ students won five awards at the Weed Show.
This is not a hands-on class as Meyers
will be demonstrating, so no materials are necessary. The one-hour
presentation begins at 11 a.m. and a $2 donation is encouraged. The
Wonder Valley Community Center is on Amboy Road in Wonder Valley.
The Weed Show is scheduled for November 2 and 3.
