Wildcrafting, or foraging, is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural habitat for dietary or medicinal purposes. It applies to uncultivated plants wherever they may be found. If that sounds like something you’d like to do, reporter Mike Lipsitz says now you can sign up for a class…
Wildcrafting is the title of an upcoming three-session class that will teach when, where, and how to collect and store seeds; and how to prepare, propagate, and grow them. Sponsored by the Joshua Basin Water District and Joshua Tree National Park, this free class begins Monday, June 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Joshua Basin Water District office on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree. The second session takes place Wednesday, June 20. The third session is a tour of the Joshua Tree National Park Native Plant Nursery at a date yet to be determined. To participate, you must register by Wednesday, June 13 by calling 760-821-5716 or emailing [email protected].
