The Hi-Desert Nature Museum kicks off its Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series tomorrow, Thursday, July 11, with a lecture on the mines of Joshua Tree National Park. About 300 mines were developed in what is now Joshua Tree National Park. Miners dug for gold, silver, and other minerals. D.D. Trent, a geology professor at Citrus College in Glendora, will discuss the true mining adventure of hardship, hope, and rarely ever richness, right here, in our neighborhood. The lecture starts at noon; admission is $5 and free for current members and beverages will be served. The Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series is held every second and fourth Thursday, July through September, at the Hi-Desert Nature Museum in Yucca Valley.
