The Second Friday Old Schoolhouse lecture series offers “The Military History of the Salton Sea” this Friday, June 9. Historian Sid Burks shares the fascinating but little known history of the World War II Navy Base at the Salton Sea, extensively illustrated with historical photographs. The 7 p.m. lecture takes place at the Old Schoolhouse Museum 6760 National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms. Admission is $5 at the door. Arrive early as seating is limited.
