Learn about the fascinating history of Giant Rock and the Integratron this weekend. Reporter Mike Lipsitz invites you to the Johnson Valley Community Center this Saturday…
Many legends from the past are told about the world’s largest free-standing boulder and the gleaming white, all-wooden dome built on the desert floor not far from the boulder. Barbara Harris’ popular presentation, “Giant Rock and the Integratron” will be offered at 1 p.m. this Saturday, June 29, at the Johnson Valley Community Center on Quail Bush at Larrea Road in Johnson Valley. A hit wherever she takes it, the hour-and-a-half program immediately follows a “Bake Sale UFO Auction.” Harris says bring stories or old photos you may have, particularly about the UFO conventions and the legend of the German spies. A $5 donation is requested; proceeds will be split between the Johnson Valley Improvement Association and the Morongo Basin Historical Society. Seating is limited; call 760-364-2646 to reserve a seat. Ice-cold refreshments will be available.
