A free workshop set for next Saturday aims to teach the public how to defend public lands against a range of threats. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more on how you can participate…
A free workshop, New Skills to Defend the California Desert, happens Saturday, May 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center. Expert environmental lawyers will focus on the National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, and how to use it to defend public lands against industrial projects that would damage communities, water, wildlife and air quality. Organized by the California Desert Coalition and Advocates for the West, the workshop has local support from the Morongo Basin Conservation Association, Conservation Lands Foundation, National Parks Conservation Association and Mojave Desert Land Trust. Because space is limited, register in advance via email to [email protected] by this Sunday, May 12.
