Here is the latest on the Pirate fire near Needles. Park Moabi residents have been allowed to return home. Park Moabi Road remains closed but residents are allowed to enter. The peninsulas remained closed Thursday while utility crews made repairs to power lines. Pirate Cove Resort is expected to be open for business today. The fire was first reported around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. By Thursday afternoon, the blaze charred more than 2,000 acres and was 40 percent contained. Mike Reichling with the Arizona State Forestry Division said San Bernardino County firefighters, including crews from our Morongo Basin, did an excellent job protecting structures.” Reichling added that so far only one business, the Pirates Cove Bar, was damaged by the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
