LATEST BALLOT COUNT BRINGS THREE LOCAL RESULTS VERY CLOSE

UPDATE 4:05PM 11/30/18

With a week left before election results have to be certified, three local races are still too close to call, ONE IS NOW TIED. John Cole, running for re-election for city council in District 4 in Twentynine Palms, is tied with challenger Karmolette O’Gilvie, 344 to 344. Joshua Basin Water District has Mike Reynolds ahead of Paul Coate by 7 votes, 1,068 to 1,075. And the Morongo Unified School District’s Measure O bond, which would provide funding for school infrastructure, is inching toward the 55 percent approval rating it needs in order to pass. As of Friday’s vote count, it is at 54.81 percent. The County Registrar of Voters says there are still about 18,900 absentee and provisional votes countywide left to be counted; it’s not known how many of those votes are from the Morongo Basin, but total county voter turn-out was 57 percent. The Registrar is updating its vote count every day at 4 p.m. with final results due December 6.
