The 30th Annual Grubstake Days 10K, 5K Runs and 2K Walk are set for Sunday, May 30.
Participants must be in-state residents and must register in advance; no on-site registration will be accepted on race day.
The 10K- and 5K-runs are timed competitive events; the 2K walk is a favorite of those who wish to participate in a healthy but non-competitive event.
Register online at yucca-valley.org by May 27 for $25.
All of the Grubstakes Run loop courses start and finish at the Yucca Valley High School stadium, located at 7600 Sage Avenue, and wind through residential areas on the south side of Yucca Valley.
Check-in starts at 7 a.m.; race time for the 10K, 5K and 2K events is at 8 a.m. and will feature a streaming start with racers spaced at short intervals for social distancing. Bibs will feature chip timing for accurate individual time recording. Awards will be presented to overall male and female winners in the 10K and 5K Run as well as to top finishers in each age division. Participation certificates will be presented to those who complete the non-competitive 2K Walk. Strollers are permitted and friendly pets are allowed (accompanied by participant and leashed).
Appropriate measures will be taken to ensure a safe event for participants, volunteers, and staff. These measures will include, but not limited to, preregistration required (no on-site registration), 6-foot social distancing, mandatory mask wearing in the stadium, alternate nutrition/hydration procedures, sanitizing stations, and disinfecting procedures. All participants are required to provide their own mask which must be worn in the stadium but may be removed while running the course. Water stations will offer bottled water and bottle refilling, participants are welcome to bring their own water. Should health guidelines change, or an in-person event is no longer permitted, all participants will be notified and transferred to a virtual race category automatically and merch/awards will be mailed to participants; no refunds will be issued.
The event is organized and conducted by the Recreation Division of the Town of Yucca Valley with the support of media sponsors Hi-Desert Publishing Company and Z107.7 FM Radio.
