Joshua Tree National Park is hosting a Volunteer Day to help clear popular horse trails and the deadline to register is today. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details …
Joshua Tree National Park staff is hoping local hikers and horse lovers will donate time and energy on Volunteer Day, Saturday, October 23. At least 20 volunteers, ages 14 and over, are needed to accomplish the days’ task.
The Boundary Trail, a popular spot for hikers and horse riders, has severe brush overgrowth, which impedes navigation. Volunteers will cut and remove the extensive growth along the route, which is located near the Black Rock Campground main trail in Yucca Valley. Equipment such as shovels, saws, and hoes will be provided by the park.
The shift is from 8:00 a.m. until noon and volunteers should bring their own water and food.
All volunteers must register by the end of today – Monday, October 11. Look for the info in this story at Z1077fm.com.
