LAST DAY TO APPLY FOR BLM DESERT ADVISORY COUNCIL

If you care deeply about the management of our public lands and how it is used by the public, know that the Bureau of Land Management is inviting citizens to apply for a spot on the Desert Advisory Council. Reporter Heather Clisby has the details …

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking applicants to serve on the Desert Advisory Council (DAC), a citizen-run organization that advises the BLM on public land management issues.

Applicants would serve on any of three council subgroups, including two focused on recreation and management of the Dumont Dunes and Imperial Sand Dunes areas. The third subgroup is focused on the development of a management plan for the Mojave Trails National Monument. All assignments would entail reviewing background information, collecting public input, and crafting recommendations to the council.

Applicants should have experience with the geography, resources and issues associated with the specific subgroup.

The deadline for applications is February 28.
