Art and tattoo lovers alike are invited to attend an open house and dedication ceremony Sunday for Steed Taylor’s large scale installation of “the Celtic Knot for Joshua Tree.” The event will be at BoxoHOUSE, 62732 Sullivan Rd, Joshua Tree. To get there, take Route 62 to White Feather, south on Whitefeather to Sullivan, west on Sullivan). Reporter Kristy Lockhart has more on the event…
The artwork is a commemorative, cast on-site, concrete Celtic Knot. It sits 5 feet wide by 30 feet long by 18 inches high. The Celtic knot design references the infinite cycles of life, birth and rebirth. This commemorative, concrete Celtic knot is an extension of Steed Taylor’s road tattoos, which are commemorative, site-specific, community-based, tattoo-inspired, public artworks on roads. As people mark their skin for commemoration, communication or ritual, a roadway can be marked for the same reasons. The ceremony takes place Sunday, March 31, at 3 p.m.
