A Landers woman was arrested after deputies determined she used an elaborate scheme to rob a liquor store. According to Sheriff’s reports, Jennifer Brannon, 35, sent a juvenile daughter into Mojave Liquor store in Landers about 10:30 p.m. February 2, who requested help at the back of the store from the sole clerk, Jesus Cervantes. While Cervantes was distracted, Brannon entered the store in a disguise and stole thousands of dollars from the cash register. Brannon then left the store to a waiting vehicle with another daughter inside. The two drove away to a spot in the desert, where Brannon left the cash with her daughter. Brannon then changed her clothes and shoes, and returned to the store to pick up her other daughter. Meanwhile, Cervantes had discovered the robbery and called deputies. Deputies interviewed Brannon and her juvenile daughter, whose stories differed. Deputies located the look-out daughter, missing cash, and clothing where Brannon had left them several hours earlier. Jennifer Brannon was charged February 6 for investigation of burglary and two charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $100,000. She was released on her own recognizance during her arraignment February 9.
