A 27-year-old Landers woman is asking the community to contribute to her life-saving kidney transplant operation. She spoke with reporter Rebecca Havely to share how you can help…
Z107.7: I’m speaking with Yessinia Herrera, 27, of Landers, a dialysis patient for the last five years. Yessinia, I understand you have an organ donor now?
YH: Yes, my older sister Myra.
Z107.7: You grew up together in Landers?
YH: Yes, since I was 14.
Z107.7: I hear you have a goal to see your 7-year-old son graduate from high school. You’ve graduated from Copper Mountain College but have additional education goals?
YH: Yes, I want to go back to college to continue my studies in property management.
Z107.7: Tell us about your crowd-funding campaign. Will the funds raised to toward what your health insurance does not cover?
YH: Yes, it’s not going to cover some of the medicines after the transplant to keep my body from rejecting it.
Z107.7: How can people find the site to contribute?
YH: They just go to help hope live.org
Z107.7: Go to helphopelive.org and search for Yessinia Herrara.
YH: Yes, thank you so much.
