LANDERS RESIDENT SHOOTS AT, BUT MISSES, SUSPECTED BURGLAR

A Landers resident whose vacation home was burglarized twice in the last month shot at a suspected burglar caught on the property Monday. According to a Sheriff’s report, a home in the 57300 block of Camulos Road was burglarized in November, and the thieves stole eight dirt bikes along with other property. About 8:30 p.m. Monday, the home owner saw someone walking on his property and confronted the intruder with a gun. The owner made the suspect remove his jacket, shirt, backpack, and shoes, and was walking him at gunpoint back to his home when the suspect took off running into the desert. The owner told deputies he fired a shot at the unknown white man, but missed. Some of the owner’s property was found inside the intruder’s backpack. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
