LANDERS’ QUIRKY HISTORY REVEALED AT SATURDAY ASSOCIATION MEETING

Home to the historic Integratron (the Morongo Basin’s only “intergalactic spaceport”), and what has been called the world’s largest freestanding boulder, Landers’ history is rich, quirky, and colorful. Some of it is even factual. Reporter Mike Lipsitz pulls out his aluminum foil hat for this story…

At this Saturday’s 3 p.m. meeting of the Landers Association, Barbara Harris will help separate truth from fiction in Landers colorful history. Thought to be this world’s leading authority on Giant Rock, Harris’ presentation will bring Landers fascinating landmarks to life. Saturday’s meeting is free and open to the public. Those coming for the presentation only will have an opportunity to duck out prior to Association business.. Members who have not renewed for 2017 will want to bring payment of $15 for individual dues or $25 for a family. The Landers Association meets in Belfield Hall on Reche Road just east of the Post Office in Landers. For more information call 760-449-4048.
