LANDERS MAN ON PROBATION CRASHES STOLEN VEHICLE

A Landers man who was on probation for grand theft was arrested after he crashed a stolen SUV into another vehicle. About 3:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, deputies on patrol near Old Woman Springs Road and Highway 62 in Yucca Valley saw a 1996 Subaru Outback that had been reported stolen from the 7400 block of Elk Trail about five hours earlier. Deputies attempted an enforcement stop on the Subaru, but the driver, later identified as Anthony Jimenez, 18, refused to yield. After about a half-mile, the Subaru crashed into a pick-up truck in the 56900 block of Antelope Trail in Yucca Valley. Jimenez was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment of his minor injuries. Jimenez, who is on probation for grand theft in San Bernardino in May, was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield and possession of a stolen vehicle, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held without bail.
