A Landers man was arrested last Friday (February 18), accused of carjacking a victim with a BB gun. According to Sheriff logs, deputies received a call at 11 a.m. on February 18 from a woman saying her vehicle was stolen from her at gunpoint, leading deputies to respond to the 56700 block of Sunset Avenue in Yucca Valley. Following an investigation, deputies say that the victim had arrived at the property to pick up a black BMW that she had purchased when she was met by Steve Mixco, 34, who was sitting in the BMW and allegedly pointed a black handgun at her saying he would use the weapon if he had to. Arriving deputies detained Mixco and reported that the victim positively identified Mixco as the man who pointed the gun at her and that they had located a black BB gun at the scene. Steve Mixco was then arrested for investigation of carjacking and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $250,000.
