A Landers man was arrested over the weekend, accused of burglary. On Saturday (January 22), Sheriff deputies were called to the 58700 block of Gerrie Lane in Landers just after 4 p.m. According to Sheriff logs, deputies contacted Chase Mendoza, 33, at the location, hiding underneath a victim’s trailer. After investigation, deputies determined that Mendoza had broken into the residence, eaten a sandwich, and forced entry into a shed, where he locked himself in. When deputies arrived, Mendoza reportedly fled the scene on foot but was detained following a brief foot pursuit. Chase Mendoza was subsequently arrested for investigation of burglary and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $25,000.
