A Landers man was arrested Saturday (April 10), accused of getting physical while stealing a woman’s phone. Deputies were called to the 74000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway in Twentynine Palms about 4:00 a.m. because Michael Harper, 38, had come to the home and attempted to forcefully take a woman’s phone from her hands. When the victim let go of the cell phone, Harper then left the residence with the stolen property. Deputies located Michael Harper, and he was arrested for investigation of strong-armed robbery, booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $100,000. In March of 2020, Harper was accused of committing almost the same exact crime at a different location and arrested at that time for investigation of spouse abuse and burglary, and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
