A Landers man was arrested early Monday morning, accused of kidnapping and assaulting his ex-wife. According to the Sheriff’s department, James Turner, 33, went to the 58400 block of Stearman Road in Landers where he started arguing and fighting with his ex-wife. According to a witness at the scene, Turner dragged his wife into a bedroom about 3:30 a.m., where a 5-year-old child was sleeping. The victim told deputies that Turner held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her if he ended up in jail. Deputies performed a consent search of the home and found a handgun. After an investigation, James Turner was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, criminal threats, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $250,000.
