LANDERS MAN ACCUSED OF HITTING HIS BROTHER WITH A BAT

A Landers man was arrested Sunday after he hit his brother with a baseball bat. The brother called deputies about 2 p.m. Sunday to say that his brother Roderick Helms, 28, was drunk and the two of them had been arguing. When Helms stepped outside the house, the brother locked him out. Helms became angry and grabbed a baseball bat and hit his brother on the arm with the bat. After an investigation, Roderick Helms was arrested for investigation of assault with a weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
