The Landers woman who was a fugitive after she failed to appear for a court hearing following the death of her 7-year-old son from heat stroke last year, is in custody again, along with her fugitive husband who was detained in May.
Paul and Misty Warfox were arrested in July 2018 after their son Dylin died in an ambulance on the way to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Warfox, 43, told deputies he and Dylin had gone into the desert in 113-degree heat to collect firewood, and on the way back to the abandoned cabin where the family was squatting, Dylin collapsed. Six hours later, when he seemed worse, they called for an ambulance, but Dylin died.
Paul and Misty Warfox were arrested on suspicion of child cruelty resulting in injury or death, and made several court appearances last year, but missed their August 28 hearing and became fugitives.
On April 21, Paul Warfox was arrested in Azusa, accused of burglary. He was turned over to San Bernardino Sheriff’s deputies in May. Judge Rodney Cortez imposed a $1 million cash-only bail. Misty Warfox, 37, remained a fugitive until she was arrested in Azusa on Sunday, July 14. At her arraignment July 15, Judge Joel Agron called her a flight risk and set her bail at $750,000. Both Paul and Misty Warfox were in court Thursday, with their next court appearance set for August 22.
