A Landers man was arrested Saturday (July 31) accused of being a felon in possession of a “ghost gun,” ammunition, and methamphetamine. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies conducted a traffic stop around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Reche Road and Becker Road in Landers for a vehicle code violation. During the stop, deputies saw ammunition in the vehicle. Deputies determined the driver, Edward Malone, 41, was a convicted felon, who is forbidden from owning firearms or ammunition. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located suspected methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and a non-serialized semi-automatic handgun, commonly referred to as a “Ghost gun.” Edward Malone was arrested for investigation of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and possession of methamphetamine, was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and was later released on $50,000 bail.
