The Lake Fire that has raged in the San Bernardino Mountains since June 17 is still 98 percent contained, as of Friday. The fire has burned 31,359 acres (about 49 square miles), near Barton Flats, and has destroyed one home in the Burns Canyon area, along with three outbuildings. Six firefighters have received minor injuries. Forest Service officials say the fire is smoldering within the perimeter, and smoke may occasionally be visible; however, the active burn area is well inside containment lines.
