LADYCAT VOLLEYBALL TEAM SPLITS WEEKEND AGAINST SAN JACINTO, RANCHO MIRAGE

The Twentynine Palms High School volleyball teams hosted San Jacinto Friday. Coach Melissa McGivern said, “The varsity Ladycats played tough against the Tigers, showing a lot of heart and determination but came up short.” (19-25, 25-21, 15-25, and 23-25).

Sophomore Gianna Bilderain and Mya Chacon each had one kill. Junior Journey Platzke had three kills and five assists. Senior Riley King had two ace serves and four kills. Senior Amanda Mohn had three ace serves, two kills and eight assists. Senior Jhordan Stanley had one assist, two ace serves, and six kills for the night.

The junior varsity volleyball team fought hard but came up short. (21-25, 25-16, and 9-15).

Itzel Solorio had a kill  with the  assist from Jadyn Bauer. Zemira Mosqueda had one ace serve and two assists. N’Taiya Youso had two ace serves. Bella Salcido had three kills. Leah Engesser had one kill and four ace serves. Gabby Wunderlee had one assist,  four kills, and seven ace serves.
Saturday, the Twentynine Palms Volleyball teams took on Rancho Mirage
The varsity volleyball team defeated the Rattlers in three sets; 25-18, 25-22, and 25-17.

Senior Jhordan Stanley had one ace serve and six kills. Senior Amanda Mohn had five kills and six assists. Senior Riley King had four kills. Junior Journey Platzke had one ace serve, one kill, and eight assists. Sophomore Gianna Bilderain had two kills. Sophomore Mya Chacon had three ace serves and two kills. Sophomore Alana Gutierrez, the varsity libero, played outstanding defense throughout the match.

The junior varsity volleyball team beat the Rancho Mirage Rattlers 25-4 and 25-19.

Itzel Solorio had one kill. N’Taiya Youso had one ace serve and one kill. Bella Salcido served up three ace serves. Gabby Wunderlee had two ace serves and one kill. Zemira Mosqueda has four ace serves, one kill and three assists. Leah Engesser served 15 in a row for the ’Cats and had two aces, two kills, and one assist.

Both volleyball teams will host Big Bear on Tuesday, August 27.
