In Yucca Valley High School versus Desert Hot Springs girls’ soccer, the varsity game tied, 1-1.
Nicole Powell scored the only goal and was assisted by Faith Palmer. The varsity game was well matched. The girls were tied 0-0 leading into overtime. Overtime consists of two, 10-minute halves. At the end of the first half, Desert Hot Springs was ahead 1-0. The Lady Trojans were able to tie up the game in the second overtime half finishing with a tie of 1-1. Junior varsity won 3-1.
Goals were scored by Evelyn Villava, Sarah Krenelka, Nicole Godoy, with assists by Sarah Krenelka.
Coach Jolene Pessa said, “Naturally in a high school sport, a junior varsity team is often playing together as a group for the first time. There is a period of learning the strengths and weaknesses of each player individually and as a team. Many of the girls tried out new positions yesterday and were able to execute well. I look forward to seeing them grow together as a team, building the foundation for future success throughout their high school years.”
